Fire Ant Men’s and Women’s Track and Field team scored big in the Francis Marion University Invitational.
Lacey Barrett wins second 5,000M race this season
The Fire Ants' Track and Field teams competed in the Francis Marion University Invitational on Friday April 10th. In the Women's events, T'Najeh Duncombe qualified for the final round of the 100M finishing fifth against a tough field. Bra'rasia Ferrer raced her first college-level 800M, exceeding expectations. China Sontee led the ladies in the Shot Put and Discus, tossing a Personal Best in the latter. The highlight of the meet came in the Women's 5,000M. Under warm late afternoon conditions, Lacey Barret surged to the front of the pack with eight laps to go and never relinquished her lead. She finished in a PB time of 20:42, racking up her second 5,000M victory this season.
