Dr. Adrienne Cataldo is in her 9th year serving as the Director of Athletics at the University of South Carolina Sumter and her 18th year in USC Sumter Athletics. Under her dynamic leadership, the athletics department has experienced an extraordinary 275% growth in sports offered, reflecting her commitment to expanding opportunities for student-athletes and fostering a culture of excellence.

Since assuming her role, Dr. Cataldo has overseen the successful addition of multiple new programs, including Cross Country, Track & Field, and Half Marathon Running, launching in Fall 2024. Her strategic vision has not only broadened the athletic landscape at USC Sumter but also elevated the institution’s national profile.

Dr. Cataldo’s tenure has been marked by a steadfast dedication to academic achievement, ensuring that student-athletes excel both on the field and in the classroom. Her programs consistently maintain high academic standards, with student-athletes achieving impressive graduation and retention rates.

Dr. Cataldo holds a PhD in Education Leadership from National University, along with a masters degree in College Athletic Administration from Coker College, and a bachelors degree in History from the University of South Carolina. Her academic and professional background blends scholarly rigor with practical leadership, making her a respected figure in both athletic and academic circles.

Beyond her administrative accomplishments, Dr. Cataldo is a passionate advocate for student development, equity in sports, and community engagement. Her leadership continues to shape USC Sumter into a model of excellence in two-year college athletics. She serves on the NJCAA committees for Tennis, Women's Flag Football, and Clay Target Shooting. She is an active member of the Rotary Club of Sumter Sunrise.

She is a Sumter native and was a standout softball player at Sumter High School. Cataldo was recruited by and played softball for USC Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C. under Coach Chris Hawkins. At USC Sumter, she served as Head Softball Coach for several years before taking on the role of Director of Athletics.

Cataldo, and wife Carla, have a 2 year old daughter named Frankie, 4 dogs (Leonard, Rocky, Nadgy, and Sadie), and a cat (Tommy).
